Kurdish writer and artist Hoshang Waziri has won the first prize at the Fujairah International Film Festival.

On Friday evening, April 18, 2025, Kurdish playwright and writer Hoshang Waziri won the first prize of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival.

The Kurdish writer participated with his play "The Sky Is Not For You" and won the first prize among 704 other submitted plays.

Hoshang Waziri is a Kurdish writer who writes in Arabic and English. He is most famous outside Kurdistan and only two of his works have been translated into Kurdish.

The Fujairah International Festival of Monodrama Theater is one of the most important and famous festivals of monodrama theater (single actor) in the Middle East, held annually in the Emirate of Fujairah, one of seven Emirate of the UAE.

Hoshang Waziri is a Kurdish writer born in Erbil. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Baghdad University, Department of Theater Direction and has published articles in several Arabic and English magazines and newspapers, in addition to publishing several works in Arabic, in the field of text He has won several international awards in theater and cinema.
