On Wednesday, September 4th,2024, Sarah Sanbar, an Iraq researcher from Human Rights Watch's Middle East and North Africa division, visited Metro Center for human rights coordination.
In the meeting, which was attended by Aram Saeed, President of Bedil for Debate Organization, Metro coordinator warmly welcomed Sara Sanbar and her accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed the human rights situation in particular and the right to freedom of expression and the press.
The coordinator of Metro highlighted the most obvious obstacles to freedom of the press and freedom of expression and presented some reports of Metro Center to the guest delegation, he added that the intensification of political conflict before the expected elections requires international organizations to monitor the Kurdistan Region more, where human rights and the rights of journalists are more violated.

Sara Sanber expressed her pleasure for the visit and thanked Metro Center for its assistance and facilities to Human Rights Watch for 15 years and stressed that the goals of both organizations require the development of these relations.
Sarah Sanbar is a researcher in the Middle East and North Africa department who studies human rights violations in Iraq.
She previously worked in the Civilian Population Protection Unit of the International Committee of the Red Cross, where she focused on conflict and climate change, and war crimes prevention.
She was also a protection specialist at the Danish Refugee Council and worked with the Nonviolent Peace Force in Iraq, focusing on internally displaced persons protection and reconciliation in the post-ISIS era.
