On December 8th, 2024, the team of Metro Center participated in a panel titled How to cover news of murder and violence against women in the media.

General Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family, Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family/Sulaimani, organized a panel discussion on the 16-day national campaign to combat violence against women in Kurdistan and the world.

 A number of government and political figures, journalists, activists and representatives of civil society organizations participated.

During the discussions, a number of important issues were discussed, including media coverage of cases of murder of women by Dr. Zhia Abbas, cybercrimes against women in media laws in the Kurdistan Region by Dr. Karzan Mohammed, and international efforts to protect the right to political participation of women and mechanisms to combat violence against women.

Finally, the participants expressed their views and recommendations were received.
