On the occasion of the very first day of NRT’s broadcasting, we warmly congratulate its founder, president, board members, directors and employees.

In its 14 years of existence on February 17th, 2011, the channel became the voice of citizens dissatisfied with the policies of the Kurdistan Regional Government, a speaker for the different voices of Kurdish society, and a school for training talented journalists.

Therefore, the political authorities of the Kurdistan Region, used all kinds of methods and tools of repression, pressure and threats against this channel and its founder (Shaswar Abdulwahid), its reporters, photographers and employees followed.

They went so far as to burn down the channel and loot its offices, but they did not succeed and NRT insisted on conveying its professional message.
