Kurdish writer and artist Farid Zmadar died last night after suffering from the disease.

"We were saddened by the news of Zamdar's death and at the same time we feel that we have lost a prominent writer," the center said in a cable of condolence to the family of the late writer Farid Zmodar. We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased's family, friends and loved ones.

"The deceased defended liberties through his writings, poems and paintings, in addition to his work for years in the trade union sector as head of the Syndicate of Journalists branch in Sulaymaniyah for all journalists and writers in Kurdistan,

Farid Zmarod was born in Erbil in 1952. He was head of the Sulaymaniyah office of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate.
